I just saw an “Automate” pulldown in the main view of the web interface.
Enables you to set up rules for bids, budgets, status, etc. for campaigns, ad
groups, keywords, ads, etc.

Did this just happen? Has anyone tried them?

I haven’t seen it yet but would like to go and check a few accounts. Can you
identify better where you’re seeing this? What do you consider the “main view”
and which menu bar are you accessing?

Under the campaign tab it’s a pulldown just above the column labels to the
right of New Campaign and Change Status.

The dropdown menu:

Create rule for campaigns
Change daily budget when…
Pause campaigns
when…
Enable campaigns when…
Create rule for keywords
Create rule
for ads
Create rule for ad groups
Manage rules »

-

Brand new today – good eyes.

It’s been in beta for a while; but I don’t think all the beta features made
it to prod. It should be a good time saver when everything is worked out.

I’m still playing with it; but I have high hopes.

-

Automated 1st page bids are the only feature I’ve tried so far. I’ve run it
three days in a row and then reviewed and adjusted in AE. Quite a time
saver.

-

Heh. This showed up in a few of my accounts today. I’m going to set up
different tests and see what happens.

FWIW, I’m not generally a fan of Google’s automation tools. I’ve tried most
of them and never kept one active for the long term. No matter how promising the
initial results, long-term performance is always a problem. I hope this one is
good–the potential for performance improvement is very exciting.

Have had similar experiences with their other automation tools. Don’t always
do a good job with automated rules. Question is whether we can do a better job
with our own rules. Easier said than done.

Agree, the past tools put total control in Google’s hands and were not ideal.
However, this appears to be quite different where we still have the control,
just not having to put in the time to take action. Excited to hear about
everyone’s experience.
