Auto migration to ’optimize for conversions’ (2 posts)

What do folks think of this change:

It’s nice to know google cares about advertisers having more conversions, or do they?

I’m a bit confused about the effect this can have. While I can write an Ad that converts well, I still always have to consider the CTR. Where do I draw the line here? If I rotate Ads based on conversion, I will get more conversions initially until my possibly lower CTR reduces my QS resulting in less potential auctions, right?

I know I can opt out of this change, but I’m curious to understand the effect this can have especially that Google is obviously very eager to make this change that they volunteered to do it themselves!

Personally, I’m not a fan of Google changing anything automatically. Let me know the stats and then give me the option.

If I’m seriously testing; then I want rotate turned on. I’ve seen too many times where an ad is more profitable with a high CTR and lower CR then an ad with a very high CR but a low CTR (but its not always that way).

If I’m being lazy and just writing a lot of ads and not watching the stats closely, then this setting will probably help.
