Google did finally make a playlist of content network basics. These videos are not new, but as there’s very little new this week; and the content network is so important; its worth highlighting their videos again.
The holiday weeks have left us fairly light on videos the past two weeks. Since I missed the holiday video post, I’ve included both weeks together (which still makes this lighter than past weeks).
There aren’t any must see videos. If you’re into Analytics, than this Q&A video with Avanish & Nick will keep you entertained for 20 minutes.
Since we mostly talk marketing on this blog, we rarely examine some of the other videos that can be found. I’m a big fan of Google Tech Talks. Google has experts come into their offices several times a month to give presentations, answer Q&A, etc. All of these videos are recorded and stored on YouTube. The latest is about Personal Informational Management. This is approached from the tech provider standpoint about how different people organize info and how you can offer services.
As I’m an organizational junkie. I have meeting rules, Outlook rules, email rules, RSS rules, etc that would drive most people crazy; but they let me get a tremendous amount done; I like examining the different ways that people use technology to pick up tidbits here and there. It also helps with making system workflows when you want to organize your information to be part of someone’s daily life.
Most of the new videos this week are for developers. If you’re on the more technical side; take a look – there’s a lot of good stuff.
For advertisers, there are two key videos to watch this week.
The first is one of the new features Google Analytics just added – the ability to make notes inside your analytics account. Video here: Google Analytics Annotations.
On a global average, conversion rates do not average much by position; however, there are exceptions. Fred (one of my favorite people at Google) did a short video on how to find conversion rates by position in Google Analytics. Video here: AdWords Conversion Rate by Ad Position.
Here are the rest of the new videos for this week.
If you’ve ever wanted to learn about Wordstream (an interesting keyword tool with a free version to test out) or wonder what is happening at SES Chicago this week; at the bottom of this post is an overview of Wordstream and the SES videos.
Below are all the latest videos from Official Google & Yahoo channels.
This week we are going to feature a video non a non-official source because of a great piece of information it contains. It’s not uncommon for Google employees to make great videos that do not go through ‘official’ channels. Sometimes these videos stay, sometimes they are taken down, sometimes they reappear in official channels.
It’s hard to say what will happen with this one – but if you ever want your ads to show in GMail – this 3 minute video will make your life easier.
Special thanks to Shelley for finding and sharing this video.
The week has been fairly quiet for new videos with everyone making Thanksgiving plans. However, there are still a few top videos and news for the week.
All of Google’s official channels can be seen in one place under our YouTube subscription page. We’re trying to find all the Yahoo ones as well (and adCenter if they ever add any). If you see new official search channels, please let us know.
This Friday there are also a few videos from Yahoo as well. If you know of any good Yahoo (or adCenter – some on Microsoft) YouTube channels, please leave a note in the comments and I’ll add them to the list of subscriptions.
Google UK did a fun video on Organise your account for better results! (You can tell it’s UK by the spelling of Organize. This is why you should have different US and UK campaigns even though we both speak some dialect of English).
If you’re a tech junkie and have been wondering what the Chrome OS would look like, here it is: Google Chrome OS Open Source Project Announcement. I have a lot of thoughts around this one; such as Google Gears needs to be about 100x better before this will truly work; but at least Google realizes this should only be on netbooks at the moment.
And lastly, if you wanted to see the entire Physicians Marketing Webinar that was posted earlier this week; but was missing the last 30+ minutes; the full version is finally live and can be seen here: Connecting with Physicians Online Webinar
Google’s website optimizer is an amazing tool, at a great price point – free. It allows you to do A/B testing or multivariate testing of your pages to see which ones increase conversion rates.
It sounds complicated – and on the backend it is. However, it’s not that hard to get started with website optimizer and get tests up and running. Google recently did an hour and a half webinar on the Website Optimizer with a live demo of creating actual experiments so you can see how to get up and running.
If you haven’t used the optimizer yet, or you are scared to use it as it sounds too technical – then this is a great video for you to watch. It’s pretty long, so if you just want to see an actual experiment being created jump to minute 41.
If you are reading this post outside of the blog (such as in email) you may need to click through to the website to view the video.
Each profession has different way that it uses the internet to research information. Physicians are not only looking for different information than a lawyer, the ways in which they use the web is different as well.
Google did a nice 15 minute webinar & video on reaching physicians. If you are in the medicinal marketing field, wish to put a message in front of doctors, or just want to see some good research, the video is worth you time.
In an attempt to showcase all of the new videos that Google is creating to help you learn more about Google and their innovations, ere are the newest videos from Google.
