Overture Control Panel Changes

2:07 pm in PPC Info, PPC Marketing Blog, Yahoo Search Marketing by brad

Overture did a change to the control panel (and is being sloooow right now, so hard todo updates).
Many bidding types were changed from auto to fixed, or vice versa.

If you had different bids per match type, many of them might be gone.

If you were using negative keywords, many of them are now gone.

I have some descriptions and titles that have been replaced with some old titles/descriptions from over 3 months ago.

As Tropical Island mentioned in another post, some content ads were auto enabled and accounts charged over the weekend for those with content turned off.

Might want to check your accounts carefully this week.

Overture to allow separate content vs search bids

1:45 pm in PPC Marketing Blog, Yahoo Search Marketing by brad

Big new for those who like to take advantage of content, but want to bid separately on search vs content.

On AdWords, there has long been a work-around to the usual content bids to make this a possibility.

Good move on Overture’s part – now for AdWords to follow suit.

Yahoo Buys Overture

3:16 pm in PPC Info, PPC Marketing Blog, Yahoo Search Marketing by brad

$ 1.63 billion.

Wow.

One of the largest deals to hit the net in years.

This is huge for Yahoo.
It’s even bigger for Overture who has grown from an idea to a company worth over a billion dollars in a few short years.

As most of Overture’s income comes from it’s partnership with Yahoo, this deal makes complete sense. Yahoo gets to keep everything in house. PPC will only grow over the next few years, and this deal solidifies Yahoo as a PPC provider who will be able to monetize it’s search results for years to come.

Watch for things from both Yahoo and Overture over the next few months – only big things will come from this mega deal.

Overture new feature: Content match

3:12 pm in PPC Info, PPC Marketing Blog, Yahoo Search Marketing by brad

Overture has announced they are going to a Google-like distribution feature of matching content to PPC listings.

One of the top complaints from advertisers is the lack of distribution, and the willingness to pay for more. Content match enables any website to suddenly show PPC listings. The listings will be based off of site content, so the technology which matches websites to PPC listings is crucial for advertisers to receive good traffic from these sources.

Changing PPC Bids – by ROI

9:38 am in Creating PPC Accounts, PPC Info, Yahoo Search Marketing by brad

You should always have your return on investment numbers in mind when bidding, but some find it useful to find a bid number they are comfortable with, and stick with it no matter what.
